Today the Navicelli Channel measures 17 km in length, 33 meters in width and 3 meters in depth: it is used by shipyards, located on its banks, for launching new boats and to make access for boats needing maintenance and refitting works.
THE INCILE
Today the Navicelli Channel is one of the main economic areas of our territory. The development of the its nautical industry has determined a great economic circuit that has few equals in the Mediterranean: a nautical circuit that crosses one of the most evocative areas of the Migliarino and San Rossore Natural Park, the largest in Tuscany. The opening of the Incile represents the removal of the last barrier preventing the Navicelli Channel from reaching its full functionality. This area is of strategic importance from a logistics point of view, as it is located near railway junctions, the A12 motorway, Pisa Galileo Galilei Airport; in this context the Channel represents a powerful opportunity for transport connection with the Port of Livorno. The Incile also opens the Channel to recreational navigation from the Arno river or from the Port of Marina di Pisa, creating new opportunities for tourism as well as for extending the reach of the maintenance and refitting shipyards which are a strength of the Navicelli Channel area.
